about

For one of the assignments, one of my friends decided to make a scene based on the 2003 play "The Pillowman" and asked me to create a music piece. She had something very specific in mind, to the point of even linking a playlist of songs to look to for inspiration.

One of the songs came from the soundtrack to Evangelion 3.0, a film with a lot of sombre, minimalist piano tracks; this put me in the mindset of creating something in that style.

This was originally intended as a concept piece to help me figure how to write those types of songs, but when it came to doing music for the scene, I couldn't come up with music that didn't just turn into mediocre background noise (mainly due to how much dialogue there was, and the fact that it was 7-8 minutes long).

However, it turned out to work surprisingly well as an ending theme, so I suggested using it in that capacity and the friend agreed. This is a shortened version of that mood piece, which is on the album as Track 36.

Inspirations used:

Quiproquo 140 (piano) ~ Shiro Sagisu (Evangelion 3.0: You Can (Not) Redo)
Quelconque 56 avec A4 (2 pianos) ~ Shiro Sagisu (Evangelion 3.0: You Can (Not) Redo)
Quiproquo 131 (2 pianos) ~ Shiro Sagisu (Evangelion 3.0: You Can (Not) Redo)
